Do you have computers
in working order that you want to dispose
of?
Take them to Lowel Egren.
He refurbishes and donates them to
underprivileged children who would not
otherwise have a computer. |
Wireless Internet in the computer room
Don Bartholomew and Hal Shockey teamed up to research the possibility of
getting “wireless internet” in the computer room area to facilitate
training programs.
The project was successful and as of March, 2009.
Wireless internet is now available in and around the building housing
the computer room, library, and card rooms.
It also supports the swimming pool area and the multi-purpose
room. This is a significant
improvement!
Magic Jack
Have you heard of “Magic Jack”?
It's a land line telephone system which operates through the computer rather
than the telephone line.
To check into it, go to “magicjack.com”.
A number of Club members plus others in Paradise now have it and it
is working quite well. A
regular land line phone costs approximately $312.00 annually and the magic
jack costs approximately 47.50 the first year and 20.00 each year
thereafter. Wow!
If you use it with a multiple wireless phone set, you can use it
throughout the home. Another
item introduced and demonstrated by the Computer Club.
